Yahoo Weather fiasco angers Turkish people

It has been 554 years since Byzantium Empire has been gone. But it seems people at Yahoo think it is still there.

Reported by a Turkish iPhone user, Sinan Oymaci (general manager of cepofis.com), if you search for Istanbul in iPhone's weather application, it lists as:

Byzantion, Istanbul (Turkey)



And if you continue, it will add the city as Byzantion.



Upon report, I did some searching. First stop, weather.com, as they power Yahoo Weather. Interestingly, no sign of Byzantion there:



Then I checked Yahoo Weather, and it was there again:




Interestingly, if you proceed, there is no sight of Byzantion there.



It makes me wonder, what was the engineers at Yahoo on when they built their database :)
