Back to 6700

Digg This

After fiddling with Jamin 3 days, I am back to using 6700. Jamin is nice and all (esp. loved 2MP camera), but 200Mhz speed just didn't cut off. Even after I overclocked to 228 Mhz, it still was slow with many CPU intensive apps, such as Sling Mobile. Plus, I missed the good ol' EVDO speeds. It may be bulkier, but still, the responsiveness of the 6700 beats Jamin.

One other thing (than camera) I'll miss is the size and ability to use SD. Wonder why idiots at HTC did not use SD and got us stick with miniSD.

I enjoyed your review of the 6700, but have you tried out the HP 6515???? I am debating between these two. I like the form factor on the HP, but then it has no wifi.

What do you recommend???

I have used a 6515 over a year ago. While it has good features (both MiniSD and SD), BT, built-in GPS and keyboard), the square screen can be limiting (nowadays more apps properly support square screen) and also it runs the older Pocket PC 2003 Second Edition. HP will not be offering any upgrades to Windows Mobile 5 (this is the latest OS, 6700 is running it), so you wont have any new features offered by it. Also it does not come with non-volatile memory for your apps, so if you lose charge, unlike 6700, you'll lose all your apps.

So if you want to invest in a device you can use for couple more years, I'd say 6700. If you are satisfied with 6515, it is still a solid device.

Forgot to add, for 6515, you can get a miniSD or SD wifi card, it sticks out a little, but won't be a bother. I recommend Spectec products, they are much smaller than their Sandisk or similar counterparts.

Again thanks for your advice and prompt response...I'm going with the 6700!
Telus currenlty has it for only $149 on a 3 yr. compared to Rogers $399 for the 6515.

Not a problem, have you checked what Bell is offering? They also have 6700, with the latest AKU2 update, which enables many features, incl. direct push. Telus has not released it yet, though they will, hopefully this month.
